The Wallace McCain Institute (WMI) Board of Directors is delighted to announce that Sally Ng has been appointed CEO of the organization. She will begin her new role on Oct. 11, 2022.
Sally brings to WMI a demonstrated commitment to supporting entrepreneurship across Atlantic Canada and beyond. Most recently, Sally was the Chief Operating Officer of Tribe Network, a social enterprise focused on helping Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) advance opportunities within high-growth and emerging industries. Sally has led multiple corporate innovation venture teams within Fortune 1000 companies and supported strategy development and execution that resulted in meaningful growth while at Highline Beta in Toronto. Previously, she served as the founding Executive Director of New Brunswick-based entrepreneurship hub, Planet Hatch. She has also worked with organizations such as Brightspark Ventures, and National Angel Capital Organization. She travelled globally with Techstars Startup Weekend as a facilitator and with many others who enable the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
In addition, Sally is founder of The Triple Effect, an innovation consultancy focused on corporate innovation, entrepreneurial community development programs and technology coaching.

Her insight and experience will greatly benefit the many business leaders that form part of the WMI network” says Rob Normandeau, Board Chair of WMI. “The Board is excited to have the opportunity to work with Sally as CEO to continue to build upon the excellent foundation of the Wallace McCain Institute and to champion Wallace McCain’s vision by creating an organization that gives entrepreneurs in our region what they need to succeed.”
Reporting to the Board of Directors as CEO, Sally will provide overall leadership. She will implement the organization’s strategic plan, direct operations and oversee program development and delivery to ensure WMI’s continued success. Sally will champion the Institute’s mandate to help entrepreneurial leaders of growth-stage companies in the Greater Atlantic Region grow through transformative and experiential, peer-based programs.
“From a young age, I’ve been entrenched in entrepreneurship with my family’s businesses,” says Sally. “I am passionate about Atlantic Canada and helping to support and enable entrepreneurial growth. As a first-generation immigrant, who grew up in Nashwaak Village, NB, I believe all entrepreneurial organizations and programs need to dig into how to create more inclusive environments for entrepreneurs and businesses to thrive as our region continues to grow and become more diverse. I am truly excited by this opportunity to serve in a leadership role at an organization with such an exceptional reputation that is well positioned to play a key role in supporting entrepreneurial leaders who play a vital part in driving strong, inclusive growth of our region’s entrepreneurial economy.”
Sally holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Mount Allison University and a Graduate Diploma in Social Innovation from the University of Waterloo. She was the Valedictorian for the University of Toronto – Director’s Education Program (DEP) and received her ICD.D designation. Sally completed the Basadur Simplexity Innovation System Facilitator with Basadur Applied Innovation and is a Certified Collaboration Architect/Facilitator through Conteneo. In March 2017, Sally was selected as one of the 35 young entrepreneurs to represent Canada at the G20 YEA Summit in Berlin.

The focus of the Wallace McCain Institute at the University of New Brunswick is to support the next generation of senior business leaders in the Greater Atlantic Area to meet the complex challenges facing the area. The program is a catalyst for shifting the business culture of the province and advancing the values of entrepreneurship and innovation. The development and deepening of relationships and networks is fundamental to how the Institute delivers on its mandate.
Programs range from an intensive cohort program where high-potential leaders will interact in a series of experiences, to one-off workshops and lectures on themes relevant to Greater Atlantic Area businesses. The program uses innovative pedagogy to convene people, share best practices, assist in the application of learning and inspire change.
