Stay Golden Custom Expands to Nova Scotia: A New Chapter in Halifax
Thirteen years ago, Stay Golden Custom started as a dream at Colonel Gray High School in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. From those early beginnings, we’ve grown into a trusted partner for busy leaders across Canada, helping them design and source custom merchandise their teams and communities are proud to wear.
As our client base has expanded, so too has our vision. What began as a PEI-based business has transitioned into an Atlantic Canadian wide company, one rooted in the Island, but ready to serve the entire Atlantic region and beyond. The next step in that journey is here: the opening of second location, with a new office and showroom in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Why Halifax, Why Now
With a growing client base in Nova Scotia, expanding into Halifax was the natural next step for us. Our customers here have trusted us with their printing and branding for years, and it became clear that to serve them better, we needed to have a more local presence. But beyond our existing relationships, Halifax itself has become one of the fastest-growing cities in Canada on a per-capita basis, recently passing the half-million resident mark in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Forecasts show that by 2050, Halifax could grow to over one million people, doubling in size and cementing its place as a major regional center for Atlantic Canada.
This rapid growth has created a unique energy in the city. Halifax balances its historic roots with a forward-looking spirit, attracting entrepreneurs, creatives, and leaders who are shaping what Atlantic Canada will become. That’s the type of ecosystem Stay Golden wants to be a part of.
When looking for a second home, we also knew the neighborhood mattered. The North End stood out for its grit, artistry, and entrepreneurial character—the perfect fit for Stay Golden Custom. Our new office is located at 5663 Nora Bernard Street, inside the historic Mayflower Factory.
This space gives us a stronger presence in Nova Scotia and allows us to serve clients across Atlantic Canada more effectively, while staying close to the communities we care about.
A Building with History
The Mayflower Factory has been a hub of industry in Halifax since the mid-1800s. Its first chapter was the Mayflower Tobacco Factory, which employed over 100 workers and stood as one of the city’s busiest manufacturing sites during the 1860s. The building bustled with activity, rolling, pressing, and boxing tobacco for distribution across the Maritimes. After a fire destroyed the original wooden structure, it was rebuilt in brick and repurposed multiple times over the next century. Moirs Ltd. used the site for biscuit production, while Schwartz & Sons transformed it into a spice and dry goods facility.
Each new chapter reflected the growth of Halifax’s industrial base, and the Mayflower Factory became synonymous with the spirit of making and manufacturing in the North End. For more than 150 years, this building has stood as a place where ideas were turned into tangible products. By opening our Halifax office and showroom here, Stay Golden Custom is proud to continue that tradition, adding to the Mayflower Factory’s a latest chapter in creativity, production, and community impact.
Looking Ahead
The Halifax expansion represents more than just the opening of a second office. It’s the next step in our evolution from a small PEI-based business into a truly Atlantic Canadian company. While our roots remain firmly planted on Prince Edward Island, this move allows us to broaden our reach, and better serve leaders across the Atlantic region.
At its core, Stay Golden Custom has always been about making custom merch simple, meaningful, and impactful for busy leaders, whether they’re outfitting a growing team, rallying a community, or building a brand. By establishing a presence in Halifax, we’re putting ourselves at the center of one of the fastest-growing cities in Canada, while continuing to honor the values and hands-on approach that got us here.
And while this expansion is a milestone, it’s also just the beginning. We can’t wait to open our doors, welcome you into our new Halifax location, and celebrate at our grand opening and launch party on Friday, September 26th.
