David Barnett has owned 5 different businesses in his adult life. Two were closed, two were sold and one continues to this day.
As a broker of commercial debt, he arranged financing for hundreds of companies for expansions, acquisitions or restructuring. As a business broker, Barnett sold 36 companies from 2008 to 2011. As a private sale transaction consultant, he’s helped hundreds of others to buy, sell, or identify a bad deal. Barnett has been valuing businesses since 2008 and has been a Certified Machinery & Equipment Appraiser since 2009. Barnett was the first person in his home province to earn the Certified Business Intermediary designation from the International Business Brokers Association in 2009. Working with clients on transactions led Barnett into the field of preparing businesses for sale and helping owners maximize value. In 2014, Barnett formalized a process to help small and medium sized businesses systematize their operations and formalize their organizations in bite-sized steps that required minimal disruption of operations. He now implements this program selectively with clients around the world.
