Mark Dejonge

Mark de Jonge, of Halifax, Nova Scotia is an Olympic bronze medallist, two-time world champion, Pan American champion and world record setter in the sport of sprint kayak.

Mark’s approach to sport is all-encompassing. He believes that in order to achieve excellence it is important to focus on all aspects of one’s life. Competing at the highest level of competition in the world, one must be in optimal shape both physically and mentally. Mark attributes his success to hard work, goal-setting, thorough planning, and performing on demand.

Mark graduated from Dalhousie University with a BEng. (Civil) in 2009. He has gone on to work in the Geotechnical engineering field, makes his own watches under his company de Jonge Watch, makes sport GPS devices as a co-owner of Technik Sports, and puts his engineering skills toward making himself a faster kayaker and innovating in his sport.
